Ever since a film was announced in the combination of Allu Arjun and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, questions have been asked about the sustenance of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. After Rajinikanth's Coolie, Loki was supposed to do Kaithi 2 with Karthi in the lead. So, what happened to that?
There are two possible explanations. The obvious one is that a fat paycheck from Mythri Movie Makers has tempted Loki to abandon Karthi's movie and collaborate with the Pushpa 2 actor. It's rumoured that Rs 75 Cr is his remuneration. Kaithi 2 wouldn't have given him more than Rs 30 Cr.
But there is a more speculative and even controversial theory. Lokesh Kanagaraj doesn't have stories for the LCU movies. His best bet, especially after the under-performance of Coolie, is to abandon the LCU world and chart a new path. This theory is very much plausible. The director sent out mixed signals about the authenticity of the backstory in Vijay's Leo. Ever since, his preparedness for a series of LCU movies has been doubted.
