In a recent interview, producer Srujan Yarabolu lamented that he was disappointed when the Telugu film industry didn't support his acclaimed 2024 release, 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu. The comedy drama film, starring Nivetha Thomas as a homemaker, was directed by Nanda Kishore Emani.
Srujan Yarabolu stated that he was expecting social media posts from big names after its release. He tried to screen the movie for Chiranjeevi but didn't have the means to reach out to the Megastar. When he produced Colour Photo, even Allu Arjun encouraged him. Last year's sleeper hit, Little Hearts, received endorsements from the likes of Mahesh Babu. 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu was backed by Rana Daggubati. Despite an industry biggie bringing it out, the movie didn't receive encouragement in the form of glowing social media reviews from celebs.
It's possible that 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu was ignored because it didn't feature a male lead, whether big or small. Nivetha Thomas is no superstar heroine and therefore, her male colleagues in Tollywood didn't feel obligated to support her movie.
This makes one wonder if social media endorsements are not unconditional.
