'Chai Wala' is now 'Nawab Cafe': 'This will stay with you for a long time'

Chai Wala is now known as Nawab Cafe. After the CBFC raised objections to the title (PM Modi's nickname being Chai Wala), the makers of the upcoming Telugu-language father-son drama have changed the title. Nawab Cafe was the original title in the mind of director Pramod Harsha. And actor Shiva Kandukuri is happy to revert back to that.

Speaking today at a presser, producer Venkat R Papudippu said that the film is a mix of comedy, love, and emotion. "The title song has been liked by listeners. Another song, a romantic one, will also be liked by the audience. The comedy is excellent. The father-son emotion is perfect. An emotional drama has to be watched with one's family. Nawab Cafe is one such movie; it has to be watched with one's sister, mother, brother, father. That will further cement your relationship with them," he added.

Shiva Kandukuri said, "Any bit of publicity is a big one for a small movie. So, it's painful that we had to change the title. We encountered a roadblock and it's inevitable that we had to obey the objections raised by the Censor Board. Raja is my name in the movie. He is someone who strongly believes in his destiny. Nawab Cafe was the destined title, considering that I had saved my director's middle name as that. Certain consequences add to the larger good. Nawab Cafe is where the soul of the father-son duo's relationship blossoms. So, it's an apt title. I am extremely grateful to my producer for standing with us. Venkat assured us to keep the momentum going. He has been enthusiastic. He deserves a huge round of applause for this." He thanked Rajeev Kanakala, who plays his father in the movie.

Actress Teju Ashwini said, "Due to some situations, we had to change the title. This is my debut outing, and I didn't expect this last-minute twist. Probably, it's a testing time for a good movie. I have my fingers crossed."

Rajkumar Kasireddy, Chaitanya Krishna, and Vadlamani Srinivas are part of the cast. Prashanth R Vihari is the music director.

Nawab Cafe will head to theatres on February 20.
