Producer reveals losing DJ Tillu to Naga Vamsi due to pandemic hesitation

In the film industry, sometimes, making swift calls makes all the difference. Producers with huge monetary resources under their command manage to be ahead of the curve in the industry. S Naga Vamsi's financial muscle helped him steal a march over budding producer Dheeraj Mogilineni, who could have produced DJ Tillu had he not hesitated.

In a recent interview, Dheeraj revealed that DJ Tillu's story came to him first in early 2020. Since the Covid-19 pandemic struck the world and a lockdown was announced in March, Dheeraj was unsure about his readiness for the project. A few months later, Krishna And His Leela, a film headlined by Siddu Jonnalagadda, got released on Netflix and amassed critical acclaim. Naga Vamsi contacted Siddu, evincing interest to collaborate with him. Siddu happened to pitch the story of DJ Till to him. He readily took a call to produce it.

Dheeraj said that Sithara Entertainments bankrolling the comedy caper ensured that it became a blockbuster, not just a hit. The scale went up and a top-tier technician like Thaman was roped in. "This is something I couldn't have imagined," Dheeraj said.
