Telangana Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has demanded that Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan apologize for his recent remarks. This stems from Pawan's recent visit to Konaseema district in AP, where he joked that coconut trees there withered due to the "evil eye" of Telangana leaders.
Komatireddy advised the OG actor to research facts before speaking and added that an apology might help Pawan's films screen for a day or two in Telangana theaters.
The remarks by the actor-politician have snowballed into a row in Telangana. The Cinematography Minister himself threatening to stall the release of Pawan Kalyan's movies if he doesn't apologize is a major development.
Pawan Kalyan's Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu, directed by Puri Jagannadh, courted controversy in 2012. That was well before the formation of Telangana. The film was deemed to be anti-Telangana in its messaging and unsubtle digs at emotive politics.
