Police officers hawa in Bollywood

Maverick police officer films appear to be the current trends in Bollywood. With the new action and style the films on police backdrop have always been successful in any film industry. Recently we have seen two big block buster films – Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’, Ajay Devgan’s ‘Singam’ (remake of Surya’s Tamil movie Singam) and John Abraham’s ‘Force’ (remake of Surya’s Tamil movie Kakha Kakha). Now in this line few more films are being made in Bollywood, while some are direct flicks few other are being remade.

To have a brief look at it, Aamir Khan is coming up with the psychological thriller ‘Talash’ under Reema Kagthi’s direction. He is donning the police officer role after almost 11 years of his earlier film ‘Sarfarosh’ in which he portrayed the similar character. Similarly Anil Kapoor is playing the police cop in Ekta Kapoor’s production venture ‘Shootout At Vadala’ which is on encounter backdrop. This film also features John Abraham, Vivek Oberoi and Tushar Kapoor in other prominent roles. Another familiar director Priyadharshan, who has good grip on comedy flicks, this time, is planning a film on police subject. Titled ‘Tez’ Priyadharshan is going to show the Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal as the powerful police officer in this film.

Now coming to another remake film in Bollywood on police subject, it’s Kamal Haasan’s block buster film ‘Vettaiyadu Vilayadu’ (directed by Gautham Menon, it’s Raghavendra in Telugu) as ‘One Two Ka Four’ in Hindi. Shahrukh Khan is replacing Kamal’s role in this version and is going to wear the police uniform for it. The latest we hear is that Sanjay Dutt is eying on Vikram’s ‘Saamy’ which might take off some time very soon. He is already doing the police oriented films titled RGV’s ‘Department’ and ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’. So in this manner, 2012 appears to be dominated by the action flicks by the genre called ‘Police’ in Bollywood.
