Political dacoits behind defamation of Chiranjeevi's movie?

Producer Anil Sunkara has alleged that the defamation of Bholaa Shankar was a politically motivated campaign. Blaming "social media dacoits" for coming out with negative memes, he alleged that a conspiracy was afoot to defame the movie. "They were ready with memes even before the movie hit the cinemas," Sunkara said.

Bholaa Shankar was the remake of a Tamil movie from eight years ago. There was no way it would have worked even in the pre-social media era. Chiranjeevi's filmography has been contemporary most of the time. He acted in Sye Raa to be a cut above the rest. But remakes haven't worked for him. The GodFather underperformed because it was a remake. Both The GodFather and Bholaa Shankar were post-pandemic remakes, unlike Khaidi No. 150 which was a pre-pandemic outing that had the additional advantage of being the Megastar's comeback movie.
