The Lost Bus, a survival drama film directed by Paul Greengrass, was released in select theatres in the US on September 19. It started streaming on Apple TV+ the other day. "A bus driver has to navigate a bus carrying children and their teacher to safety through the 2018 Camp Fire, which became the deadliest fire in California history," the film's synopsis on the Internet reads.

OTT viewers are awestruck by the movie. "Intense. Heartbreaking. Claustrophobic. Those are the words that summarize The Lost Bus. A story that had to be told. Masterful performance by Matthew McConaughey," a social media user wrote. The film is based on a book titled Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.

Many critics noted director Paul Greengrass's skillful creation of a "white-knuckle," "gripping," and "terrifying" experience, particularly in the depiction of the fire and the claustrophobic atmosphere inside the bus. His signature style of turning real events into urgent, visceral cinema was highlighted.

The Lost Bus, however, has been criticized for its clunky and soapy secondary subplots.
