Tere Ishk Mein: Find out what film critics are saying about Dhanush's movie

Dhanush's latest release, Tere Ishk Mein (Hindi), has received a polarizing but largely positive reception from film critics.

Similar to its spiritual predecessor, Raanjhanaa, the film has faced criticism for its "problematic story" that celebrates or glorifies "obsessive and toxic love," which some found unsettling or "deeply problematic." Kriti Sanon's character, Mukti (a psychologist), was deemed "badly written" by some, whose questionable decisions made it difficult to emotionally invest in the central romance. The screenplay is called out for being "inconsistent and confusing," particularly in the second half, where the plot becomes convoluted and loses grip and logic.

Dhanush's performance has received a unanimous response. Critics have universally praised Dhanush, calling his performance "raw, restrained, and riveting," a "powerhouse performance," and his character portrayal as "compelling." He is noted for channeling "raw fury and fragile vulnerability" with ease, making his transformation from an angry young man to an emotionally consumed pilot one of the film's biggest strengths.
