The 90th birth anniversary of legendary actress and 'Mahanati' Savitri will be celebrated in a grand six-day event, the Savitri Mahotsav, at Hyderabad's Rabindra Bharati from December 1 to 6. The festival is being organized by Vijaya Chamundeswari, daughter of the yesteryear icon, in collaboration with the renowned art organization, the Sangamam Foundation.
The celebrations are designed to honor the indelible legacy of Savitri in Indian cinema: The first five days of the Mahotsav will feature screenings of her classic films, alongside singing competitions for fans and aspiring artists. The culmination of the event will be the main 90th birth anniversary celebration. This special gathering will be chaired by Mandali Buddha Prasad.
The December 6 ceremony will specially honor individuals who contributed significantly to keeping Savitri's story alive in the modern era: Directors and producers of the acclaimed biopic Mahanati, including Nag Ashwin, Priyanka Dutt, and Swapna Dutt, will be felicitated. Sanjay Kishore, author of the book Savitri Classics, and publisher Bollineni Krishnaiah will also be honored.
The event will be graced by former Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu, who will attend as the chief guest. Several film personalities are also expected to be present as special guests.
