The acclaimed 2024 Malayalam film Bramayugam has been selected for a special screening at the prestigious Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The monochromatic horror movie, produced by Night Shift Studios & YNOT Studios and written and directed by Rahul Sadasivan, continues its international recognition with this upcoming event.
The screening is scheduled for February 12, 2026, and will be the concluding feature of the Academy Museum’s film series, Where the Forest Meets the Sea: Folklore from Around the World, which runs from January 10 to February 12.
Bramayugam's inclusion in the series highlights its success in bringing a distinct regional folk narrative to a global stage, underscoring the universal appeal of its genre and storytelling.
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures stands as the world's largest museum dedicated to the arts, sciences, and artists of moviemaking. It is committed to advancing the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. The campus, designed by Pritzker Prize–winning architect Renzo Piano, features the historic Saban Building and a distinctive spherical addition.
Bramayugam recently won four prestigious titles at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards. The film's stellar cast and crew were widely recognized, with the awards including the coveted Best Actor for Mammootty. Sidharth Bharathan won Best Character Actor (Male). The technical brilliance of the film was also honored, with Christo Xavier taking home the award for Best Music Director (Score) and Ronex Xavier winning for Best Makeup Artist.
