Baahubali: The Eternal War is going to be a 2-part 3D animation film, whose teaser confirms that a mythology consultant named Vinay Varanasi is on board.
In the age of event movies rooted in mythological tales and characters, it's interesting that presenter SS Rajamouli, director Ishan Shukla and producer Shobu Yarlagadda have got the story written in consultation with a mythology expert. The Eternal War is going to feature Indra, Vishashur and a host of "surprising gods". The story spans not one loka but 14 lokas, the Patal Loka being the most significant of them.
In the coming years, having a mythology consultant on board could become the norm in Indian cinema. Filmmakers and writers privately consult specialists all the time. But onboarding someone in a full-fledged way and crediting that individual publicly is not usual. Baahubali: The Eternal War may well be a guide for others to follow. The film's budget is Rs 120 Cr.
