The upcoming Sankranthi season is going to be flooded with multiple releases. The earliest movies will have an edge, although they will be technically pre-release outings.
The Raja Saab is scheduled to be released on January 9. The horror-comedy fantasy is obviously the front-runner, considering its gigantic scale and genre. Prabhas' immense box-office pull in the Telugu market has never been in doubt. He is the only superstar in contention besides Chiranjeevi (Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu will come out three days later).
The other two movies with the first-mover advantage are coming from Kollywood. Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan (to be released as Jana Nayakudu in Telugu) has an edge over Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi. The latter seems to be Tamil politics-centric. These movies will have to log solid openings before straight Telugu movies like MSG, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, and Bhartha Mahashayulaku Wignyapthi come out.
