Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha was released in theatres last month. While it received positive reviews, it failed to make a mark in Telugu. It turned out to be a major flop at the Telugu box-office, while the Tamil version, too, performed in an underwhelming manner.
The film is now heading to OTT. Netflix will stream it from December 12.
"A masterpiece, a mentor and a murder. When pride turns into revenge, yaaru first break aava?" the streaming giant wrote, where the "masterpiece" refers to a horror film within the film, the "mentor" is Samuthirakani's auteur character, and the "murder" is of a pivotal character. The film's tone is inconsistent, with most of the film set in a single building. The second half has a simplistic interrogation stretch.
Kaantha co-stars Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati.
