In May this year, legendary music director Ilaiyaraaja shared his excitement on having composed a pure symphony with four movements. It's now ready.

"Wishing you all a very happy deepavali… On this auspicious day, I'm happy to inform music lovers all over the world that I have recorded my Symphony No. 1 in the United Kingdom, and it will be released on January 26, 2025," the iconic composer revealed on social media.

The feat has wowed many. "At 81, Maestro isn't just composing - he's making history with his first symphony. While most rest, he pushes boundaries. He continues to amaze and inspire us all with his artistry and passion! Truly blessed to witness this legend redefine music across generations," commented one Srivatsan, a fan of music.

What is a symphony? "It is a large-scale musical composition for orchestra, typically consisting of four movements. It's a cornerstone of classical music, showcasing the full range of orchestral instruments and their expressive capabilities."

Vetri Maaran’s 'Viduthalai Part 2', Vishal’s 'Thupparivaalan 2', and Alphonse Puthren’s 'Gift' are among Ilaiyaraaja's upcoming film albums.
