'Arundhati' was released in theatres on this date (January 16) in 2009. On Tuesday, Anushka Shetty took to social media to say that her character, Jejamma, gave her a special place in the hearts of the audience forever.

The 'Bhaagamathie' actress thanked her director-producer duo. "Thanks to Kodi Rama Krishna garu, Shyam Prasad Reddy garu and the whole team for all the efforts to make this an epic in Indian cinema. A very big thank you to all for your love and support always," she added.

The film was made by Kodi Rama Krishna after Reddy approached him with a request. At that time, Reddy's financial position was not hale and healthy. He wanted to revive his fortunes, which 'Arundhati' helped to like nothing else could have. The film made many times its budget and can be likened to the film 'Baby' (2023) in terms of staggering return on investment.
