In the 'Intro' video of 'Bharateeyudu 2', a line in the song says: 'Nothing has changed'. That's in the context of corruption in the bureaucracy and government remaining as it is since 1996, when 'Bharateeyudu' fought the system tooth and nail. But 'Nothing has changed' is terribly wrong in the context of the Shankar aesthetics on display here. The supreme showman of the 1990s has changed. Everything has changed. For the worse.
The 'Intro' video, at about 2 minutes, is a pile of disaster after shocking disaster. If anything, the video convinces the audience that A-list director Shankar and the in-form Kamal Haasan are a shadow of their older selves.
Anirudh's song feels like it belongs to a small-scale entertainer. The cheap quality of graphics on display doesn't give the impression that the titular vigilante is up for a high-stakes game.
It is shocking that a production house like Lyca and the Numero Uno Kollywood company Red Giant Movies haven't ensured even a half-decent teaser-like video. They could convince Indian cinema stalwarts such as SS Rajamouli, Aamir Khan and Mohanlal to release the video in different languages. That's the best they could pull off for now. Lyca's recent movie, 'Chandramukhi 2', also suffered from low-quality VFX.
Another downside is that the video doesn't show the characters played by Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Surya, Bobby Simha, Vivek, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Brahmanandam as having unique personalities.
