Kiran Abbavaram awaits the release of 'Rules Ranjann' on October 6. The film is bereft of any serious message and is only about entertainment, including 3-4 twists, says the 'Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha' actor.
The 'SR Kalyanamandapam' actor is happy to have teamed up with director Rathinam Krishna and presenter AM Rathnam.
This film doesn't abide by any rules. It's a comedy entertainer. The audience must expect only comedy and situational comedy! This is my first outing with a bunch of comedians like Vennela Kishore, Nellore Sudharshan, Hyper Aadhi and others.
Manoranjan, my character in the movie, is naive and innocent. He doesn't know the ways of the world. He doesn't know how to react when others abuse him. He has been brought up amid restrictions by his parents. When he joins a corporate office, Manorajan becomes Rules Ranjann. The incidents that happen in his life after that are entertaining. He falls in love and so much drama takes place after that because of his penchant to impose rules in his love life.
The story takes place in Mumbai although Manoranjan hails from Tirupathi. The director was sentimental about the Tirupathi connection. Doing this film brought back the memories of my corporate life.
The first half is youthful, while the second half is a family entertainer. Don't expect any adult jokes. The brand of humour here is clean. This is an out-and-out comedy with the track involving me and Vennela Kishore playing out for an hour. He has played a casting director in Bollywood. Ajay and Subbaraju have also delivered entertainment. The latter's character will surprise the audience, especially in the climax. There are also a handful of twists.
I am fond of music. The songs in 'RR' have come out very well. Amrish has given his best. Throughout my career, at least two songs have been loved by the audience. 'Sammohanuda' in 'RR' has had a great reach of 34 million views.
More than successes, failures have taught me a great deal. Since too many films were shot simultaneously, I couldn't implement the lessons I had learned from failures. I have been advised to be choosy, and to show variation in terms of my slang. I am already doing that. A couple of my previous flops would have done better had we packaged and presented those films better. I promoted them way too much. The promotions of 'RR' have been calibrated.
I have already taken a break of six months. I am focused on my future films getting the execution right. The script works have been done with greater care. 'Meter' was a misfire because its treatment and elevations were above my range.
I have two projects with two new directors in the pipeline. I am also in talks with a couple of known directors.
