Bommarillu is a trend-setter. Thankfully, the Telugu cinema media was not ubiquitous back then to keep pestering director Baskhar, hero Siddharth and producer Dil Raju about its sequel. The relentless questioning alone would have tempted them to make a hasty sequel.
Speaking at an event to celebrate the commercial success of Shambhala, on Tuesday, Dil Raju made a reference to Bommarillu 2 in a strange context. "If the sequel were to be made, it would have to be the story of Sai Kumar and Aadi Saikumar. Sai Kumar has strived enormously to see his son succeed in the film industry. He became Aadi's backbone. Not just Aadi's, he became the backbone of the team behind Shambhala," Raju said. For context, Shambhala is Aadi's third hit or so in his 25-film career.
Shambhala was released in theatres for Christmas last year.
