Game Changer's True Origins: Ram Charan's Strategic Move, Not a Favor to Dil Raju

There is a narrative that Ram Charan was generous enough to work with producer Dil Raju after a pan-Indian movie like RRR. Although many producers approached him, he gave dates to Dil Raju.

Factually, this is incorrect. Game Changer was announced in February 2021, a full 13 months before the theatrical release of RRR. Charan had no pan-Indian hit when Dil Raju offered him a Shankar directorial.

Anybody would rightly argue that a Shankar film before or after RRR was like a gift straight from God. Shankar had an unbroken record until Indian 2. Charan had no reason to doubt his form. Which is why he latched on to Dil Raju's offer. Working with Shankar was any commercial hero's dream until Indian 2 shattered that aura.

Ram Charan believed that only someone like Dil Raju could have made a Shankar film possible for him. So, Dil Raju was doing a favour to Charan. It's not the other way round. This is plain commonsense.

Theoretically, Charan must have had offers from other producers. But these producers were probably not making an exciting offer. After a Rajamouli movie, Charan deserved a massive director. Shankar came as the answer.

If you think about it, almost all major directors known for doing pan-Indian movies have been busy with other projects. Shankar was the best bet for Charan. That's why he collaborated with Dil Raju.
