'Jai Bhim' director TJ Gnanavel will be directing a socio-legal drama titled 'Dosa King'. The film revolves around a sensational murder case that led to the downfall of a millionaire.

You must have heard of the Saravana Bhavan Hotels, right? Its owner P Rajagopal was at the centre of this case.

In 2001, Santhakumar, a 30-year-old assistant manager at Saravana Bhavan Hotels, was abducted and murdered in Kodaikanal. The principal suspect was his employer, P Rajagopal, who harbored an obsessive desire to marry Santhakumar's wife, Jeevajothi. Rajagopal was already married twice. He wanted to marry Jeevajothi presumably as per the advice of an astrologer. As per a report by The Hindu, he frequently showered the Santhakumar-Jeevajothi duo with gifts, financial assistance, and medical care. However, Rajagopal's intentions turned sinister when he began pressuring Jeevajothi to end her relationship with Santhakumar. He even lied to her that her husband had contracted HIV. When she refused to divorce her husband, the boss got Santhakumar murdered.

Jeevajothi dragged her late husband's boss to court. Eventually, Rajagopal was convicted. He died of a heart attack in 2019 just days after he was imprisoned.

Director TJ Gnanavel, when he was a journalist, covered this case. He wants to bring out the hitherto unknown details of the case through 'Dosa King'.
