Film festival to celebrate ANR's centenary year

Film Heritage Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the conservation, preservation and restoration of Indian cinema, is commemorating the centenary of Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The Foundation has announced a countrywide film festival. "FHF is back with another fantastic retrospective across India to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), an icon of Indian cinema! (sic)," the Foundation wrote on social media.

Akkineni Nagarjuna has expressed his delight. "The Akkineni family is extremely excited that the Film Heritage Foundation is celebrating the 100th birthday of Sri Akkineni Nageswara Rao, our dear father, across the country. Ten of his classic films are releasing in 25 cities. He was a pioneer for the Telugu Film Industry laying the first foundation on Telugu land by establishing Annapurna Studios," he wrote, thanking the Film Heritage Foundation and NFDC-National Film Archive of India.

'ANR 100 – King Of The Silver Screen' is the name of the event. As per a Variety report, the festival will showcase 10 restored classics from September 20-22, across 25 Indian cities. Films to be screened are: Devadasu, Missamma, Mayabazar, Bharya Bharthalu, Gundamma Katha, Doctor Chakravarthi, Sudigundalu, Prem Nagar, Premabhishekam, and Manam.
