Tollywood is a rank immature place where even healthy jokes are not digested, although the guys in the industry crack all sorts of problematic jokes in their movies. The recent IIFA Awards ceremony hosting gig by Rana Daggubati and Teja Sajja has been mired in a manufactured controversy because they cracked a couple of jokes about others, including movies like 'Adipurush', the 'Guntur Kaaram'-'HanuMan' release time issues, and 'Mr. Bachchan'.
So, wherever Rana and Teja are spotted these days, everyone is asking about this "controversy", following a bout of social media trolling by silly fan bases.
Teja Sajja attended an event on Friday, where he was asked about the "controversy". He had to ambiguously explain himself, saying that Rana had cracked jokes on him, not on others. "Select video clippings have been blown out of proportion. The entire thing has to be watched wholly, not in fragments," Teja said. Rana, too, was asked about the IIFA awards hosting gig at another event.
In Telugu cinema, calling a flop movie a flop at an awards function is politically incorrect. Those who have thin skin shouldn't make movies that arrogate to themselves the right to satirize politicians, etc.
