'Mr. & Mrs. Mahi' is the title of the latest Hindi-language romantic sports drama film directed by Sharan Sharma. Zee Studios and Dharma Productions have released the movie this week. Janhvi Kapoor alongside the versatile Rajkummar Rao have headlined it.
Hindustan Times used cricket jargon to describe the film as a no-ball. "The film struggles to stay afloat with an inconsistent pace and a storyline that's way too predictable to generate any curiosity," the review said. In contrast, Times Of India described the film as a "unique sports drama about dreams and self-discovery." The reviewer opined that director Sharan Sharma takes a "refreshing detour in his romantic sports drama, exploring how self-doubt and insecurity can sabotage not only relationships but also dreams."
"Despite its initial sweetness and interest in character psychology, Sharan Sharma’s ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi’ is neither a convincing sports film nor an effective relationship drama," wrote The Hindu in a largely negative review. NDTV gave the film a 2-star rating. On balance, the film has been panned by film critics.
At the box-office, the film netted nearly Rs 7 Cr in India on Firday (Day 1). "The audience's feedback is extremely positive. It now needs to convert into footfalls," analyzed trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
