The news is that, in the wee hours of Tuesday, his 16-year-old daughter Meera was found dead at their residence in Chennai. Early reports say that she hung herself.

Senior Tamil actor R Sarath Kumar today tweeted that the news of Meera's untimely demise is shocking beyond imagination. "No amount of consoling and condolences can replace the everlasting grief of Vijay Antony and Fatima (Antony's wife). Vijay, I hope the almighty gives strength to your family to bear this unfathomable loss," he wrote.
