Real star Srihari is no more

Real star Srihari (49) passes away in Leelavathi Hospital in Mumbai this afternoon, October 9th, 2013.. Reports say he was suffering with liver cancer for quite some time. It's learnt that the actor collapsed while he was shooting in Mumbai for a Bollywood film under Prabhu Deva's direction and was rushed to Leelavathi Hospital. His was seen the recently released ‘Thoofan’ and his last film was ‘Police Game’. The entire Telugu film industry is shocked by the sudden death of Srihari.

Srihari is survived with wife Disco Shanti and two sons. He lost his daughter, Akshara, at the age of four months. In the remembrance of his daughter he started the Akshara Foundation. He had also adopted four villages in Medchel.

Born on August 15, 1964 in Hyderabad, Srihari started off his film journey as a stunt fighter and was introduced to silver screen by Dasari Narayana Rao in the film ‘Thirugubatu’ as small actor. Later he did several films in negative roles before turning hero with the film ‘Police’. The actor was successful in all characters he played, be it a villain, hero or a character roles. ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ was the milestone film of his film career. That earned him his first Nandi award and also his first Filmfare award in the category of Best Supporting Actor in 2005.

As a hero he did several police characters, similarly if one has to think of a brother to any heroine in recent movies, it’s only Srihari. ‘Police’, ‘Balaram’, ‘Orey Thammudu’, 'Okkade', 'Prithvinarayana', ‘Parasuram’, ‘Maa Aayana Sundarayya’, ‘Simhachalam’, ‘Sri Mahalakshmi, ‘Bhadrachalam’ and ‘Mestri’ are few films in the list of his films as hero. His character roles in films like ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’, ‘Dhee’, ‘King’,'Don Seenu', ‘Brindavanam’ and ‘Magadheera’ took him to the next level as an actor.

Srihari recently revealed that he had plans to contest from Kukatpally constituency on a Congress Party ticket or otherwise as an independent candidate in the forth-coming elections. According to him, his dad wanted him to serve the people as a member of Congress Party since he is the supporter of Congress right from the beginning.
