‘Pandurangadu’, a mythological film has Nandhamuri Balakrishna, playing the dual role, the first being devotee Pundalika and the second, Lord Krishna. K Raghavendra Rao who is the master in making mythological films like Sri Manjunatha, Annamayya and Sriramadasu, has directed yet another devotional film called ‘Pandurangadu’. This film is the remake of the older version of NTR’s ‘Panduranga Mahatyam’.

‘Pandurangadu’ is a story about Pundalika, the son who ill-treats his parents Janudeva and Satyavati after his marriage. To get away from their son’s cruel treatment, the parents of Pundalika decide to go to Kasi. After realizing his sins, how he changed into a devoted son is all about.

This is not just a devotional film, but has all the ingredients that a commercial film should have. It’s a universal film which has the parental values.

K. Raghavendra Rao who has a special taste in presenting the romantic songs, has repeated his flawless job in this film too. As expected, the heroines Sneha and Tabu with their attractive looks will glitter on silver screen in the first half of the film. The romantic songs picturised on the rich sets will undoubtedly attract the crowds. The first part of the film displays Balakrishna romancing the two beautiful ladies, Sneha and Tabu, and the second part goes in a devotional angle.

Balakrishna, who has a passion for historical and mythological films, is able to fulfill his dream through this film. For the first time, the Telugu people are blessed to see the very son of NTR fitting into his shoes perfectly. Sure they may pray for more.

The undisputed music by M M Keeravani has raised the film to great heights. The lyrics inked by Vedavyas are so clear, that it makes one imagine the scene even without viewing it. The album consisting of 4 phrases, 4 bhajans, and 7 songs has already become popular among Telugus all over the world.

The film was shot in various locations, India and abroad. While Ramoji Film City, Chilakalapudi near Machalipatnam, Badami in Raichur are some of the Indian locations, the foreign locations include Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia.

The other salient features of the film are Mohan Babu playing a vital role, Jayaram’s camera work and the powerful dialogues provided by J K Bhairavi along with the story. Also the prominent cast includes Dr K Vishwanath, Ananth, Sunil, Dharmavarapu Subrahmaniam, Prasad Babu, Suhasini, Archana, Meghana Naidu,Y Vijaya etc.

This prestigious film, produced by K Krishna Mohan under the banner of R K Associates has already done a brisk business even before its release.

NBK has been failing miserably from the past few years and his previous film ‘Okka Magadu’ in YVS direction, also didn’t fare as expected. Now, will ‘Pandurangadu’ bring back his lost glory? Will K Raghavendra Rao’s magic save NBK’s career? Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
