The successful combination of Nagarjuna, K Raghavendra Rao and MM Keeravani are back once again with ‘Shirdi Sai’. This is their third film after ‘Annamayya’ and ‘Sri Ramadasu’ which took Nagarjuna to new heights. Apparently expectations are high considering the success of the trio’s efforts in the previous two films. ‘Shirdi Sai’ starring Akkineni Nagarjuna, Srikanth, Srihari, Kamalini Mukherjee, Rohini Hattangadi, Sarath Babu, Sai Kumar, Shayaji Shinde, Dharmavarapu Subrahmaniam, Tanikella Bharani, Aali, Brahmanandam and others is the most awaited film which is all set to open to theaters worldwide on October 6th.   So how do filmmaker, K Raghavendra Rao, hope to entice the audiences back into theaters for ‘Shirdi Sai’, four years after the release of his last devotional film ‘Pandurangadu’. So here’s what we know.

In ‘Shirdi Sai’, Raghavendra Rao promises the historical accuracy of Shirdi Saibaba considering the story, how different he portrays it on the screen. Nagarjuna proved his versatility with ‘Annamayya’, ‘Sri Ramadasu’ and the recent ‘Rajanna’, films that found him in different historical characters. This follow-up has earned the role of Shirdi Saibaba in the film ‘Shirdi Sai’, which is first of its kind character he played in his lifetime. .

On the technical side, Keeravani’s works in films like ‘Annamayya’, ‘Sri Ramadasu’, ‘Pandurangadu’ and ‘Shirdi Sai’ have sparked an interest in the holy music of Telugu films in recent times. Now coming to ‘Shirdi Sai’, the vocal rendition by the singers SP Balasubrahmaniam, MM Keeravani, Sunitha, Swetha Pandit, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Teesha Nigam, Madhu Balakrishnan, Malavika, Deepu, Rahul, Revanth, Karthik, Kaushalya, Aditi Paul and Chaitra sounds beautiful, melodious as well as soothing to ears and not to forget the lyrics that make the songs even more varied and interesting. Suddala Ashok Teja, Chandra Bose, Ramajogayya Sastry, Vedavyas and Sattipandu have penned the lyrics.  The audio has already reached the Telugu audiences across the globe.

Along with director’s visualization, Bhaktha Suresh Kumar’s story concept, Parachuri Brothers’ dialogues, Keeravani’s re-recording work, Bhaskara Raju and Srikanth’s art work, Rukmini and Bhasha’s costumes and S Gopal Reddy’s fuild camerawork also play vital roles in increasing the production values of the film.

Of the two Nag films (Shirdi Sai and Damarukam) due in 2012, we are pretty much sure that ‘Shirdi Sai’ is the one with most expectations.  A Mahesh Reddy has produced the film under Sai Krupa Entertainment (P) Ltd., with Smt Sulochana Reddy as its presenter.  So let’s wait for one more week to know its box-office results.
