Hyderabad, August 15th, 2015: Hero Mahesh Babu flagged off the 'Chak De India Ride1 organised by Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) - the World's largest Cycling Club online, to commemorate the 69th Independence Day, on Saturday. Mr Jagapathi Babu, Actor; Mr Koratala Siva, Director; Mr Ajay Mishra, IAS, Principal Secretary; Mr D V Manohar, Chairman, HBC & All India Bicycling Federation and Board Member, World Cycling Alliance, Brussels; were present on the occasion.

Chak De India Ride was categorized into two types of rides viz., Mass Ride of 10 kms and a Competitive Endurance Ride of 50 kms. Thousands of cyclists from all walks of life participated in this prestigious event.

HBC is working vigorously towards promoting cycling aggressively and thereby transform the commuting culture in our city to be more eco friendly. Through this event, we aim at bringing out all the cycling enthusiasts to come & ride and give a big thrust to the cycling movement in our city, says Mr D V Manohar.

Formation of All India Bicycling Federation
It was also a momentous day for bicycling and cycling enthusiasts in the country with ten bicycling clubs in India - Hyderabad Bicycling Club; Go Green Go Cycling, Bangalore; Vijayawada Capital Cycling Club; Noida Cycling Club, New Delhi; Jaipur Cycling Club; Ahmedabad Bicycling Club; Rourkela Bicycling Club; Sangru Cycling Club, Punjab & Baroda Bicycling Club; joining hands to form the apex body for Cycling in India - All India Bicycling Federation (AIBF). The launch of AIBF and Mr D V Manohar being designated as the founder Chairman and Go Green Rao (Prabhakar Rao), President of Go Green Go Cycling Club, Bangalore, as the Vice Chairman of AIBF, was announced on the occasion.

According to Mr Manohar, AIBF's Mission is to promote cycling all over India and ensure creation of Cycling Infrastructure in all the upcoming Smart Cities, so that there could be smart mobility in these Smart Cities.

About Hyderabad Bicycling Club: Hyderabad Bicycling Club (HBC) emerged as the World's largest Cycling Club online, overtaking the Denver Front Range Cycling Club, USA. HBC has grown six times in the last three years to reach the present membership strength of over 6800 members. HBC Bike Stations at Gachibowli and Necklace Road have transformed the city, resulting in more and more people taking to cycling.

UN Habitat agreed to partner HBC in its unique initiatives to promote cycling. HBC is the Founding Member of World Cycling Alliance and Associate Member of European Cyclists Federation. HBC tied up with GHMC, Hyderabad Metro Rail, TSIIC and the Traffic Police to promote "Cycle to Work" initiative in a big way in Cyberabad area to substantially reduce vehicular pollution and traffic congestion there.
