In April 2012, the Supreme Court of India passed a law requiring at least 70% visible light transmittance (VLT) for windows of an automobile, effectively banning the solar control films used by a large number of Indian car- owners to tint their car windows.

For two years, drivers and passengers in India had to swelter ill heat inside their vehicles without any protection from the burning Sun. Finally they can get relief with Stay-Kool says Ash Roy, MD of Fumin Global. The company is introducing the globally patented nanotechnology solar control in India as well as Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, USA, the middle-east and rest of the world.

STAY-KOOL cuts 90% of UV (= skin damage) and 70% of infrared (= solar heat), but it allows most of the visible light. When sprayed on the window glass from inside, the nano-particles inside STAY-KOOL liquid form a clear and transparent 2-micron thick coating (solar film is 150-micron thick). With a visible light transmittance of 85%, STAY-KOOL is almost as clear as plain glass (VLT = 87%).

In addition, tinted films typically reflect 20-40% of the light, making it difficult for law enforcement officials to see inside the car from outside. STAY-KOOL has essentially the same reflectance as glass, about 7%, therefore the visibility is not impaired. By keeping solar heat out, STAY-KOOL helps drivers cut down energy spent on air- conditioning by 25-40%, says Mr.Roy.

The National Art Center in Tokyo is one of the most expensive glass structures in the world - each of its 4700 sqm glass panels is custom made. The museum requires abundant natural sunlight, but needs a cool interior. In January 2011, over a 2-week period the glass panels were cleaned and applied with STAY-KOOL technology* from inside. The energy savings is about 25% in summer months according to the company.

STAY-KOOL is certified by Japanese Ministry of Environment as an energy-saving technology.

STAY-KOOL is 50% cheaper than leading solar control films sold in most Asian countries - typical payback period for an automobile is 1.5 to 3 years depending on the weather condition.

STAY-KOOL is currently rolling out with several service partners in most major cities in India. Car-owners can get STAY-KOOL applied on their car windows at an authorized Service Center.
