WWF-GATI Golf Tournament Press Meet, Hyderabad

WWF-lndia's conservation efforts seek to secure long term survival of India's wildlife and their habitats with the mission To stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature'.

To increase the conservation and education footprint in both the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, WWF-Hyderabad Office is organizing a 'WWF-GATI Golf for Wildlife and Nature' tournament in association with Hyderabad Golf Association and Taj Krishna. Avid golfers and like-minded individuals and environmentally aware corporate groups like GATI and Taj Krishna have come forward to support this initiative.

The 'WWF- GATI Golf for Wildlife and Nature Tournament' will be held in a Scramble Fun format on March 15th 2015 from 06:00 am at the Hyderabad Golf Club. This tournament aims to promote the spirit of sportsmanship and enroll as many citizens and corporate groups to join in their hands for nature conservation by involving golfers' spouses and children in 'putting competition', wildlife photography exhibition cum workshop, bird watching session and children painting competition. Film actor, Mr Ram Charan Teja will be joining the event to encourage the tournament participants and also give away the prizes for the side events. Tournament winners will also get a chance to experience a wilderness area as part of the prize.

Mr Anil Kumar V Epur, Chairman WWF & Past Chairman CM Southern Region in his opening remarks mentioned that, 'if we are to save our endangered species and secure our environment, we need the involvement of each and every citizen of the country'.

Speaking on the occasion Mr N Ramesh Reddy, President of the Hyderabad Golf Association, mentioned that, 'we are proud to be associated with this event and encourage Golfers of the city to come forward to join the cause and thereby do their bit for environment protection'.
Socially responsible Celebrity film actress and WWF supporter, Ms Amala Akkineni, and also a strong WWF supporter appealed to citizens, 'to become an environmentally responsible citizen through small meaningful actions'. She appealed to Golfers and Corporate groups to enroll themselves as partners in nature and wildlife conservation.
