Hyderabad, May 21, 2018: Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI), a not-for-profit organization industry body of Events & entertainment business has completed 4 years of its existence. It is first of its kind industry body of Events & Entertainment business in the country that covers all the trades in the industry.
TCEI is formed by the representatives of various stakeholders in the event and entertainment industry. It is an umbrella organization of various companies in event management, exhibitions, entertainment, sound /light/video, production, entertainers, caterers and other facilitators.
The Chamber has under its fold will 6 Associations viz., Telangana Event Managers Association (TEMA), Telangana Sound Light Video Association (TSLVA), and Telangana Event Facilitators Association (TEFA), Telangana Event Caterers Association (TECA), Telangana Event Venues Association (TEVA) and Telangana Entertainers Association (TEA).
The investiture of all elected members of TCEI and all its associations was held at The Park, Somajiguda on May 21, 2018. Dr. K.V.Ramana Chari IAS (retd), Cultural Advisor to the Government of Telangana was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion of investiture ceremony of its newly elected body the secretary Mr. Neeraj Thakur said that in the last 4 years TCEI has increased its membership in all its associations and all the bodies have gone through a transparent election process to elect their bodies for term 2018-20.
Some of the milestones achieved by TCEI in the last 4 years are:
- TCEI has come to be recognized as a representative body of Events Industry by trade bodies like CII & FICCI.
- TCEI has been able to represent industry related issues and problems to various departments of both the state Government and the Central Government effectively.
- The Menace of Exploitation of Event Organisers by Music Label agents has been effectively brought to check in Hyderabad.
- A good understanding has been established with sister industries like Hotels and Hospitality.
- Co-operation with institutes like NITHM has brought us closer to establishment of a “Centre for excellence in Event Education”
- International Co-operation from Sister Organisations Like SACEOS and AEIA is on record.
It is estimated that this industry nationally has grown from Rs.800 crores in 2008 to Rs.7000 crores in 2017 in the organized sector. In Telangana the size of the industry is estimated at about Rs.500 crores annually majority of it coming from Hyderabad. It is also estimated that the unorganized sector comprises of 60% of the industry size.
