Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the largest international organization, the United Nations, which aims to educate students about current affairs, topics in international relations, diplomacy, and the United Nations.
Oakridge, India’s Largest International School, is conducting the first ever Middle School Model United Nations Conference on 3rd and 4th August at Oakridge Newton Campus. Oakridge has successfully organized large-scale high school MUN conferences and is now bringing the same experience to students in grades 6-8 through JuniorMUN!
Capt. RohitSen Bajaj, principal of Oakridge Gachibowli campus, says, “MUNs challenge students to broaden their outlook, holistically develop their skills, share experiences with like minded students, and grow into successful leaders of the future. Student delegates take on roles of international diplomats and ambassadors in various organizations and agencies of the United Nations and tackle some of the most pressing global issues.
The committees and agendas to be simulated have been chosen such that they will allow middle school students to debate and discuss effectively. And they are: - United Nations Environmental Program - Combating Global Warming, United Nations Human Rights Council – Gender Discrimination, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – Achieving Universal Primary Education, Economic and Social Council – Eradicating Poverty and Hunger, World Health Organization – Clean Water and Sanitation and United Nations General Assembly – Child Labor” he adds.
